Palazzo Martellini is located at Via Maggio 9, the elegant heart of the Oltrarno quarter. The street is actually made up of historical noble palaces from the 16thand 17th centuries, built for the families of nobility and merchants when the Medici court, the lords of Florence, was moved from Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti (now a splendid museum), just 200 meters from Palazzo Martellini. The importance of the families who resided there and the beauty of the buildings resulted in the street name “Via Maggiore” (the “Great” or “Important” Street), which has since been shortened to Via Maggio.
Therefore, choosing Palazzo Martellini, the Florence Ponte Vecchio bed and breakfast, means choosing the unique experience of living in an authentic historical residence, in the atmosphere of Medici Florence, surrounded by the beauty of its history. In fact, Via Maggio still offers visitors a pleasant walk, with plenty of shop windows full of antiques and luxury artisanal boutiques. Don’t forget to stop for a coffee, or take a break in one of the traditional restaurants in the Oltrarnoquarter, just a stone's throw from Palazzo Martellini.
The Martellini Historical Residence enjoys a privileged location in Florence. Set back from the bustle of the city, yet only a few minutes’ walk from the city’s main artistic and historical sights: Palazzo Pitti is 2 minutes away, Ponte Vecchio is 4 minutes, the Uffizi is 8 minutes, and the Baptistery and Piazza del Duomo can be reached in a pleasant 12-minute walk.
